This Giving Tuesday: Double Your Gift to Empower First-Generation Students!

Dear Reader,

Today is Giving Tuesday and we’re reaching out to ask for your continued support. Today, you have the power to change lives and make higher education accessible for first-generation students across the country.

The first $10,000 given this season will be matched by our Board of Directors, doubling your impact and your generosity.

Why Giving Tuesday Matters

For first-generation students, the dream of higher education often comes with overwhelming barriers—complex applications, financial hurdles, and a lack of support systems. These students aren’t just pursuing a degree; they’re breaking generational cycles, opening doors for their families, and proving what’s possible for their communities. This year, we’re aiming to raise $75,000 by December 31st to expand our programs and serve even more students in need.

Changing Lives One Student At A Time

At Barrier Breakers® we've worked tirelessly to impact students who are most at-risk for not achieving their higher education goals.

  • Our Students Inspire Us: Our students are former foster care youth, military veterans, students who have experienced homelessness, sexual and domestic assault survivors, trafficking survivors, single moms, career changers, and so much more. Their stories fuel their desire to go to school and make a better life, not just for themselves but for their communities.
  • 3,026 Hours of 1:1 Support Provided: Our admissions advisors, all of whom are current and former deans and directors of admissions, alongside our essay editors and boot camp instructors have provided thousands of personalized 1:1 support to our students.
  • 102 LSAC Fee-Waiver Students Served With High-Touch Advising: The Law School Admissions Council provides income-based fee waivers to the most low-income law school applicants. These students make up the majority of the law school applicants we support here at Barrier Breakers.
  • $10,000+ Cash and In-Kind Scholarships Awarded: Barrier Breakers has not only given out cash scholarships to our students to help with their educational costs but by partnering with test prep and academic tutoring companies, we have been able to secure scholarships for our students to strengthen their chances for their higher education goals.

These milestones are just the beginning. With your help, we can do even more.

Your Gift Makes a Difference

This year, we hope that you consider making a gift to sponsor and change the life of a student, helping them break generational cycles and thrive in their future.

  • $100 provides one student with a year's worth of semester check-ins and ongoing mentorship
  • $1,600 supports one law school applicant with high-touch advising and mentorship for one year
  • $2,500 supports one college applicant with high-touch advising and mentorship for two years
