On the Road: Supporting Students In-Person from New York to Houston

Dear Reader,

At Barrier Breakers, even though we are a primarily virtual company, we know that sometimes, nothing compares to connecting face-to-face. This fall, we’ve had the privilege of traveling across the country to meet with students, share insights, and build community—thanks to the generous support of people like you.

Engaging Pre-Law Students Nationwide

This season, we’ve been on the move, reaching students at events that have drawn students from across the country.

  • St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia invited us to speak to their students about the law school admissions process and empower them to confidently pursue their goals.
  • At the DC Law Fair, NJ Law Day, and the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Conference, we met students from across the country. We even had the chance to participate in a mock admissions panel with several of our board members, sharing our collective expertise to demystify the admissions journey.

Building Community in New York and DC

One of our fall highlights was hosting an in-person law school information session in New York with St. John’s Law. The next day, we arranged for our Barrier Breakers current and prospective law students to visit at the New York County District Attorney's Office and meet with attorneys there and get a courthouse tour. We followed that up with a happy hour with current students and alumni the next day. At this event, students shared stories of their journeys and reminded us that the community they find at Barrier Breakers truly makes all the difference. It was a powerful evening filled with connection, encouragement, and support.

We also had the opportunity to host an informal coffee-break for our current law school students in D.C. Not only could we reconnect with them and remind them of the ways we are here for them through our Outreach and Wellness Program, but we helped them make connections with each other from first year to third year students strengthening their own support systems.

Personal Visits to College Students in Cincinnati and Houston

This fall also took us to Cincinnati and Houston, where we connected with our college students. These personal check-ins allowed us to meet our students right where they are, offering encouragement and advice on their paths forward. Seeing their resilience and drive firsthand reaffirms our commitment to being a steady source of support as they overcome challenges and pursue their dreams.
