Dear Barrier Breakersยฎ Community,
Welcome back! ๐๐ฟ This summer has been incredibly transformative for our team and the scholars we serve. From witnessing historic graduations to pitching bold solutions for economic mobility on the national stage in New Orleans, we are so excited to share how our community is growing, thriving, and breaking down systemic barriers.
We have a lot of wins to celebrate this month, along with some exciting expanded opportunities for the students in your network. Dive into our latest updates below! ๐๐ฟ
โจ๐ Celebrating the First HomeWorks Trenton Graduates ๐โจ
The HomeWorks Trenton Graduation ceremony took place on Sunday, June 7th, at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. Surrounded by inspiring works of art and lush gardens ๐ธ, scholars, families, mentors, and community partners gathered to honor the Class of 2026!
We recognized the hard work, perseverance, and leadership demonstrated by the five young women who make up the first graduating cohort from HomeWorks Trenton. Working directly alongside our Barrier Breakers counselors, these scholars achieved a 100% college acceptance rate to colleges including Rutgers University, Denison University and Morgan State University among others! ๐
Each graduate spoke beautifully about the impact HomeWorks and Barrier Breakers had on their journey, followed by a community potluck dinner ๐ฝ๏ธ and an awards ceremony ๐. To ensure this momentum continues, every graduate has been paired with a Barrier Breakers Outreach and Wellness Coordinator for monthly 1:1 check-ins throughout their college journey โ helping us maintain that 100% college acceptance rate and support them through degree completion and beyond.
Help us create more moments like this. Celebrate our first graduating cohort by making a gift to support our future scholars! ๐
๐ Guardian Summit & Camelback Ventures Pitch Competition ๐
We are incredibly grateful to Camelback Ventures for the opportunity to share what weโve been building at Barrier Breakersยฎ, Inc. Our work is rooted in a simple belief: brilliance is everywhere, but access to opportunity is not ๐ก. We are changing economic mobility for tens of thousands of first-generation students nationwide, helping them access high-impact careers and earn $1.1M more in their lifetimes. ๐ Our success at the Camelback Fellow Pitch Competition on June 9th was just the beginning of our transformative week at the Guardian Summit in New Orleans. ๐ท
As proud sponsors of Guardian Summit 2026, we were honored to join over 300 founders, funders, and ecosystem builders to reimagine how capital, connection, and opportunity flow. Camelback has fundamentally changed our trajectory and poured into our mission in unprecedented ways. A special thank you to our team members, Brandon Rhodes and Nadia Castriota, Ph.D., for joining this effort! ๐
Are you passionate about closing the economic mobility gap? Please consider a gift to advance the mission.
โ๏ธ Empowering the Next Generation of Legal Leaders โ๏ธ
This year, the Break Into Law Conference proved that the future of the legal profession is bright, diverse, and ready to lead. We saw overwhelming interest with over 1,750 registrations and brought together aspiring legal professionals to learn, connect, and build the foundational skills they need to succeed.
Because of your generous support, we aren't just talking about expanding access โ we are actively breaking down barriers and changing the face of the field. Here is a look at the trailblazers you supported this year:
๐ Championing First-Generation Talent: An incredible 71% of our attendees are the very first in their families to pursue a career in law, and nearly half (47%) are first-generation college students. Your support provides the critical roadmap they need to navigate this complex industry.
๐ Driving Unprecedented Access: We are immensely proud that 86% of our attendees identify as BIPOC. This includes powerful representation from Black or African American (55%), Latinx or Hispanic (16%), and Asian (8%) future lawyers who are stepping up to bring much-needed perspective to the justice system.
๐ฉ๐พโโ๏ธ Elevating Women in Law: With an overwhelming 83% female attendance rate, this year's conference was a powerhouse of women supporting women, ready to close the gender gap in legal leadership.
Behind every one of these percentages is a future advocate, partner, and changemaker. Your generosity directly fuels their journey, ensuring a more equitable and representative legal profession for tomorrow. Thank you for investing in their potential!

Celebrate Black Philanthropy Month
๐ค Unlock a 5% Match! ๐ค
We are thrilled to announce that Barrier Breakersยฎ is officially part of BackBlack's gift matching program! This incredible initiative aims to lift up the changemakers building a more just and generous world.
As you may know, August is Black Philanthropy Month. While Black communities have always given generously, Black-led nonprofits historically do not receive their fair share of funding. This month is our collective chance to help close that "giving gap" and back the organizations doing the work on the ground.
Hereโs the best part: This August, eligible Black-led nonprofits like ours will receive a 5% match on all donations raised on Givebutter from their $20K matching fund! ๐ง๐ธ
